When I started doing a course to learn Java, many questions arose in my mind! What was so new about it? Why is it better than C++ and other market languages (am a master in C++ and didn't want to leave it! Happy)
Though the course material did provide some comparison for the same, but many questions remained unanswered!
Then someone suggested me to go through JAVA TUTORIALS. At first i was amazed at the length and content of information given there, but then soon started appreciating it!
The initial chapters of the tutorial not only explains about Java as a programming language, but how to use it, when to use it and why use it!
For Java Beginners i recommend going through the tutorial hereand understanding it! It is very much similar to C++, and infact simpler than C++  Happy

Hope you enjoy reading it, and please post your comments and experience here after reading it! Happy

The java sun tutorials are nice to read indeed and good for newbies to learn Java.

To students: It doesn't matter how hard you've studied; the material won't be on the exam anyway.

I was introduced to Java quite similar although I have never heard of Java Sun though. I used a website called "Tutorialized" if you search on Google its 4th and I found out the basics on it. Its a good alternative.
