What does not work: fully networking integration (socket error when multple clients signs in..) , and a lot of other problems but since I just started working on this alone only a few hours ago don't expect any miracles of releasing this thing soon. I'll be coding the server and client network protocol after i've designed a way to let the clients communicate with the server using a custom protocol.

It also uses an sql database to store user settings and comes with a few features that i'll post about later when ive got it working :) till then here's a quick dev screenshot.

As you can see i can already login but i can't log in using multiple clients. SVN access to develop and contribute with the development of OpenMSN can be requested in this topic.

Login to download the latest release below in the attachment once it's out.

PS If you are from DP, you can have early beta access to test the application and host your own OpenMSN server, just let me know and i'll arrange an account for you.

To students: It doesn't matter how hard you've studied; the material won't be on the exam anyway.

Renamed to OpenChatty due a suggestion from a TEA member :) i need to refactor my application but that's only a small thing to do compared to writing the messagehandler.

Started working on a custom messenger service, it is already possible to connect to the server and login but i'm having trouble when there are 10+ connections because that will bring the server down due the heavy load (or it could be my pc that i'm developing this thing on) when it's out i'll release a beta here first so you can test it.

With my software you can host your own messenger service similiar like msn messenger but on your own computer/server.

There isn't any server GUI for it because i'm not even in beta stages but the client side has some features done.
- displays/add avatar
- login to the server and display contacts
- add/delete contacts
- change username (everyone that is logged in and added you to his list can see your username and ofcourse when its changed)
- user status (busy, online, offline)

Features added
- smiley support partially implemented
- profile page added so that everyone can create/edit their own personal page at OpenChatty
- save chat history

currently working on
- chatting with multiple users at once (inviting a contact in another conversation)

wishlist
- webcam support
- mic support
- file transfer

these features are not implement nor worked on but will be added later when we have to time to code it.

For those that are from DP:
i've already granted quite a few people access to the sourcecode from the SVN and people from DP that are willing to beta test so i'm currently not looking for any developers/testers to help us with this project anymore. However, if we do need developers, testers etc we will announce it here, leave a message or pm one of the staff members so they can sort it out once we have the space to accept new beta testers/developers.  Very nice
